Access keys

If you have difficulty using a mouse, you can scroll up and down pages using the arrows on your keyboard. Access keys are shortcuts programmed to navigate around the website. Hold down the “alt” key and type the required character to tell your browser where to go next. On some older browsers you may be required to press enter. On an Apple computer, use the “control” plus access key combination.

Reading PDF documents

Our website does contain PDF documents. You will need Adobe PDF reader to read these files and this software can be downloaded by clicking on Adobe and downloading the file. The download is 156 MB in size.

There are a variety of different ways to find out more about using the internet but one of the best sources of information is the BBC website, My Web My Way which provides more detailed advice and help for people with disabilities use the World Wide Web.

Font size and page contrast

There are various browser plugins that can offer support with accessibility however we recommend using Chrome for better compatibility. To increase font size, you can select the Ctrl key and roll the middle-mouse button in/out to increase/decrease magnification. To change contrast, try the Chrome plugins Midnight Lizard and Negative-Revert Web Colours.

These allow great flexibility in choosing colours and contrast options when viewing websites. If using Firefox, colours and contrasts can be directly altered in the browser settings in the ‘fonts and colours’ section.
