How can IPS help me?
We know that finding and keeping a job that supports your mental health needs can be challenging. Talking to your current employer about your mental health and the support you need can also be difficult. We’re there to help you along each step of your recovery journey, from job search support to advocating for you at your workplace. If you have a severe mental health condition and want to find a job, or are struggling to keep your job, then IPS could help you.

If you are ready to find a job that supports your mental health needs, then IPS could be for you. Our Employment Specialists will work with you and any NHS teams involved in your care to help you to:
- Plan your career around your goals and personal circumstance
- Tackle barriers to work
- Match your skills to suitable jobs that offer the support you need
- Write CVs, cover letters and application forms
- Talk to employers for you
- Understand what jobs are available and support you to get into new lines of work
- Manage your health and wellbeing so you feel ready to work
- Prepare for interviews and boost your confidence in talking to employers
- Understand what benefits you can get while working
If you are in work but struggling to keep your job because of your mental health condition, or returning to work after being on sick leave, then IPS could be for you. Our Employment Specialists will work with you and your employer to:
- Make sure you get the support you need at work
- Plan your return to work if you’re on sick leave
- Discuss reasonable adjustments to support your health needs
- Negotiate changes to hours, conditions and duties if appropriate
- Tackle any barriers making it harder to stay in work
- Put the right support and training in place at your work to help you succeed
- Offer information on funding that you could be entitled to for equipment and help
- Resolve any concerns, disputes or miscommunication between you and your employer
